God Showed Me Mercy #58

#58 for February 7, 2019

Have you ever been “Robbed and plundered [by Satan] and trapped in holes with no one to rescue?” (Isaiah 42:22). In this series called “God Rescues From Messes,” I tell how God rescued me.  This is the last blog of that series.

I had been deeply impressed, when I felt “Robbed and plundered” back in 1981, with the mercy of God which I read about in the Book of Isaiah.

Isaiah continues throughout the book with themes of judgment and hope in a merciful God. In Isaiah 66, God gives his enemies chances to repent. However, if they continue to reject him, refusing to repent, he will judge them. This is the inescapable consequence of their choice.

Jesus Christ is the Messiah, whom Isaiah predicted. He will ultimately show God’s triumph over evil. People from many nations would be drawn to him, for God wants all his creatures to have fellowship with him, not only Israel. By his suffering, death and resurrection, he conquered the Evil One. Already he fills the earth at least partially with light and glory through his believers.

Jesus is the “Lamb of God who takes away the sin of the world,” (John.1:29-31). The day is coming when the world system will make war against the Lamb, but the Lamb will overcome them because he is Lord of lords and King of kings—and with him will be his called, chosen and faithful followers.” The world system will fall and Jesus will reign forever in a reign of peace. Then we who belong to him will be with him in Heaven forever! Hallelujah!

I praise God for showing me his mercy and providing a way for me to be rescued from the trap of deception. This way is through faith in God’s Son, Jesus Christ, who died on the cross to atone for our sin, then rose again to show he has victory over sin, death, and the devil. I learned true happiness comes through accepting what Jesus Christ has done for us and yielding our lives to him in surrender and obedience. As I began to know the heart of God more intimately, he guided me how to live in relationship with him.

The following song is my response to Him who rescued me.

I LOVE YOU, LORD

I love you, Lord. You’re mine forever.

You’re my Redeemer, King and Friend.

You’ve paid the price; Your blood has saved me.

You gave me life that will never end.

You’ll never leave; You’ll hold me tight.

The devil’s lost, You have won the fight.

What now my Lord? What shall I do

to let you know how much I love You?

.

You gave me peace that I can’t fathom,

an inner joy in the midst of pain.

I want to be your chosen vessel.

To live is Christ, and to die is gain.”

You’ll lead me on o’er land and sea.

To be with You is where I want to be.

I love you, Lord. I’ll yield to you.

A yielded life show that I love you.
