Today is March 4th, 2024.
As I read a post by ‘His Feet International,’ I realized Todd Matthews is correct to say Christians are commanded to “March Forth,” not only today but all our lives, to be the hands and feet of Jesus in fulfilling the Great Commission.
Jesus said to his disciples just before he ascended into heaven:
“Therefore go and make disciples in all the nations, baptizing them into the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit, and then teach these new disciples to obey all the commands I have given you; and be sure of this—that I am with you always, even to the end of the world.”(Matthew 28:19-20 Living Bible).
(The note in the Living Bible for verse 19 states, “Jesus’ words affirm the reality of the Trinity….He did not say baptize them into the names, but into the name of the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit.)
I’ve been especially impressed by the news of Christians “Marching Forth” to make disciples. I hear from:

These are just a few of the many wonderful Christian ministries that are spreading the gospel to people all over the world as they also minister to their physical and emotional needs. As Jesus said, “When you did it to these my brothers you were doing it unto me” (Matthew 25:40 LB).
These ministries focus on various needs. Some help Christians who are persecuted when they spread the Gospel to their neighbors in restricted countries. They need Bibles translated into various languages, and their families need help if they are imprisoned or killed. Others try to help the thousands of orphans who need homes.
Some Missionaries take the Gospel to unreached people groups (where sometimes a whole community, after seeing a movie about Jesus, will decide to become Christians.) Others minister to war victims, or to young girls who have been trafficked. Others spread the Gospel by sending Bibles or broadcasting Christian programs via a TV channel to countries that don’t allow Christianity. Others minister to women seeking an alternative to abortion, or to Jewish people, many of whom become Messianic Jews as they believe in Jesus.
I am encouraged to know that it isn’t necessary to be part of an organized ministry to obey Jesus’ Great Commission. We can take part by sending donations to these ministries, by volunteering in local ministries and our churches, and by leading Bible Studies. There may be opportunities to explain the Gospel to fellow employees, family members, and neighbors. Since I am a writer, I’m happy to know the Holy Spirit guides me and helps me obey the Great Commission by writing.
I hope you are having a happy fourth as you continue to march forth in obedience to Jesus.
