To yield to Christ is to surrender ourselves to him,
to give up our selfish wills to his will,
to admit he is the way, the truth and the life.
I titled this book Songs & Poems From a Yielded Heart because when I wrote each praise song or prayer poem, I wanted to glorify Jesus Christ by showing who he is and/or the relationship I want to have with him.
:
“What now my Lord ? What shall I do ? A yielded heart shows that I love you.”
During the heartaches of life, I found that it helped me cope better with the stormy emotions if I wrote a prayer poem or worship song, many of which are in this book. These helped restore me to an intimate relationship with God. Many have been published since 1980 in Christian periodicals such as Evangel, Live, Power For Living, Vision, War Cry and others. Some of my songs can be heard on www.youtube.com @judithvanderwege9055.
Here is a sample of one of the poems:
A soft gentle breeze caresses my skin. Uplifting my spirits, it soothes me within.
I gaze at the sunset, with awe contemplate the marvelous beauty my God did create.
Music is healing, music gives wings to soar above problems this troubled earth brings.
Lord, you sent the music, you give the sunsets, you are the breeze to my soul.
1980 by Judith Vander Wege
