Sometimes grief is hard to explain. If your spouse dies or your child or your sister, people are there to express sympathy. They understand, They want to help you feel better.
But what if you have a grief they cannot see, and you can’t explain? Maybe a dream that doesn’t come true? Maybe you find out that a conviction you’ve had is not true. Maybe you lose a friend no one else knows about or you find out a friend is not the honorable person you thought.
What if you’ve worked and planned toward a goal for a long time, then just as it seems to come to fruition, you find out you’ve been scammed.. Or maybe you find out that to be true to your Lord and Savior, you have to give up a cherished desire? It hurts. It causes depression. How do you deal with this? Often, because one can’t quite define these secret sorrows, they bind together and become too big to handle. What can you do then?
The best choice is to go to God with the grief.
2035The Psalmist asks: “Why are you cast down, Oh my soul?” (Psalm 42:11). “And why are you disquieted within me? Hope in God, for I shall yet praise Him, the help of my countenance and my God.”
Jesus said, “In the world you will have tribulation, but be of good cheer. I have overcome the world.” (John 6:33, NKJV).
The person of faith knows God is holy and righteous, and that God knows what He is doing. My life is in his hands. God loves us, his adopted children. Therefore, we can trust him.
If Jesus is Lord of our lives, his grace will be sufficient for the sorrows we face. He will use them for good.
“Oh, send out Your light and Your truth. Let them lead me; Let them bring me to Your holy hill and to Your Tabernacle. Then I will go to the altar of God, to God my exceeding joy and my delight. And on the harp I will praise you, O God, my God. Why are you cast down O my soulf? And why are you disquieted within me? Hope in God, for I shall yet praise Him, the help of my countenance and my God..
