Jesus said, “I AM the way…”

“And your ears shall hear a word behind you saying, “This is the way, walk in it,” (Isaiah 30:21, NKJV).

Recently, I drove to Minneapolis to visit my sister and her husband. I thought I knew the way, but I missed a turn. It is quite stressful wandering around a big city in rush hour traffic trying to find one’s way. My phone’s GPS, didn’t seem to be working. I longed for that omniscient voice of God, speaking in my ears, “This is the way…” I finally got there, but God allowed me to have some difficulties first.

On a larger scale, I’m so thankful God speaks to me about how to travel the way of life. His Word is clear.

Jesus gave his disciples guidance at the Last Supper. He told them, “I am the Way, the Truth, and the Life. No one comes to the Father except by me,” (John 14:6).

Jesus is the way to his Father (God). There is only one way to God for Jesus said, “No one comes to the Father but by me.” It is only through faith in Christ Jesus, believing he is the Son of God, and trusting in his sacrfice for our salvation that we can come into relationship with the Almighty, Omnipotent, Omniscient, Omnipresent God and be adopted by him for eternity, thus having forgiveness and salvation. He showed us the way to trust his Father, to have peace and joy.

How do we know how to live? Sometimes it’s difficult to make decisions—to know how to act, how to live, how to relate to others. But when we turn our lives over to Jesus Christ, asking him to take control of our lives, he will do so and bring us peace as we make those decisions.

Jesus guides those who are in relationship with him. He guides us through his Word (the Bible) and through his Spirit. He shows us the way to have abundant life, living in victory over the dark power of the evil ones. I love the way Jesus acts–the way he does things, for he is gentle, merciful, kind, and truthful. His way is the best way to treat people. Remember how he treated the lepers, blind men, adulterous women, children, and his disciples? His way is the way for us to have abundant life.

Jesus is the ‘way’ all things came to be in the first place. (John 1:1-5) says “In the beginning was the Word and the Word was with God and the Word was God. He was in the beginning with God. All things were made through him and without him was not anything made that was made. In him was life and the life was the light of men. The light shines in the darkness and the darkness has not overcome it.

Jesus is the Way to God the Father. He shows us the Way to live and love, and will always be with us. He will strengthen us and supply our needs. Whatever God has called us to do, he will equip us to do. Jesus is also compassionate. He wants to work through us to release people from captivity to sin and to relieve their suffering.

Since Jesus is the Way, if we give our lives to him, we won’t get lost. If we stick with him, he will direct us. He will make a way for us.  Amen.
