Topical Bible Reading for September

For our September topical Bible-Reading, I decided to focus on the Prayers from the Bible. As with the others, you have permission to print this out and use for your daily Bible Reading.

1. Philippians 1:2–6. Apostle Paul prays for Christians at Philippi (and us). Psalm 8.

2. Genesis 15:1–21. Abram prays about childlessness.

3. Genesis 18:16–33. Abraham intercedes for Sodom and Gomorrah.
.
4. Genesis 24:12–19 and 42–49. Abraham’s servant prays for a wife for Isaac.
.
5. Genesis 25: 20–26. Isaac prays about Rebekah’s barrenness. See Psalm 5:3,11–12, Psalm 25.

6. Genesis 32:9–12, 24, Gen. 35:9–12. Jacob prays for safety. God reaffirms his covenant with Jacob.

7. Colossians 1:9–23. Apostle Paul prays for Christians at Colossae (and us).

8. Exodus 3:1–22. Moses receives his assignment to deliver God’s people from Egypt.

9. Exodus 4:1–4. Moses argues with God about his inadequacy. God equips him.

11. Exodus 15:2 and 10–13. Moses rejoices with the people after crossing the sea.

12. Exodus 32:10–14. Moses intercedes for Israelites after their golden calf idolatry.

13. Exodus 33:12–23. Moses prays that he can know God and his ways betters.

14. Ephesians 3:14-20. Apostle Paul prays for the saints (Christians) at Ephesus ( and for us).

15. Judges 6:14–40. Gideon asks God to confirm that he has really called him to save Israel.

16. 1 Samuel 1:27 and 2:1–10. Hannah praises the Lord after lending her son, to the Lord.

17. Psalms 103:1–14. “all that is within me, bless his holy name!”

18. 2 Samuel 7: 18–30. King David’s prayer of gratitude; God said he’d build a house for him.

19. 2 Samuel 7: 9, 13–14, and Psalm 51:1–17. King David repents of his sin. (also Psalm 32).

20. 1 Kings 3:9 and 8:22–53. Solomon’s prayer at the dedication of the temple.

21. Isaiah 12:1–6, Psalm 69:30–36. Prayer of Praise for what God has done.

22. 2 Kings 19:14–19 (or to 37), and Isaiah 37:14–20. Hezekiah’s Prayer when under attack.

23. Ezra 9:6–15. Ezra the priest prays for the nation of Israel.

24. Daniel 2:17–23. Daniel and his friends plead for wisdom, then praise God for granting it.

25. Daniel 9:1–19. Daniel pleads for the nation to be released from captivity by Babylon.

26. Psalms 16:1–11. Prayer for protection from the evil one and rejoicing in God’s answer.

27. Jonah 1:15–2:10. Jonah prays in the belly of the fish.

28. Matthew 6:9-13. The Lord’s Prayer, Mark 14:32–36,

There are other prayers, like in Habakkuk 3: (Even if nothing goes right, can we praise the Lord?) and in Romans 15 and 16.

Many of the Psalms are prayers or contain prayers. (Psalms 61, 70, 71, 73, 86, 102, 108, 119:30–49, 119:66–77, 119:92–105, 119:133–144, 130, 138,139, 143, 145,150)
